The Hidden Plastic Team took to the ocean in February/March in the BVI, with snorkel, fins, tank & BCD! Big congratulations to Zara, who finally earned her PADI certification she's been trying to get since age 10 years. Due to equipment problems (she was too little!) and injuries, so she had to postpone three years until after lockdown. Zara studied for the online exam, then completed her three day training with scuba instructor Sophia from Sail Caribbean Divers. She was a fantastic mentor (see her pictured with Zara). Since Zara has wanted to be a marine biologist form the age of 8 years, obtaining an PADI Open Water certification is a big milestone on the way to realising her ambitions.
Days later, Ashton (who has a history of asthma) tried diving to 40ft with instructor Charlotte and the rest of the family. He loved it so much that we got to dive another two times. Highlights of the group dives were: 6 ft. reef shark, giant lobsters, stingrays, wreck, juvenile hogfish, healthy reefs and underwater somersaults!
